Formally of Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, Bridget Donahue opened her namesake gallery earlier this year, in a beautiful and raw second floor space on the Bowery. The gallery’s second solo show opened this past weekend, and features new works from multi-media artist and designer Susan Cianciolo. The show entitled if God COMes to visit You, HOW will you know? (the great tetrahedral kite), offers an unprecedented look at the work of an artist who moves between disciplines and form – from the construction and deconstruction of clothing, to performance and filmmaking. Among other works, the exhibition features a number of small «kits» that have been prepared by the artist; scrapbook-like boxes that have been reworked and painted, containing two decades worth of torn apart clothing, soft sculpture, drawings, paintings, and collage. Various events and performances are scheduled throughout the duration of the show, which runs until July, including a p resentation of the artist’s early films at Anthology Film Archives. An exhibition catalog has also been produced by the Zurich-based publishing house Nieves, alongside a series of posters designed by Harsh Patel.
